Com 1020 Media and You

Digital Printing Write-up

Nathan Shaw

For my cover pages, I used a number of different design principles, including: Balance, Unity, and Contrast. Informal Balance is present in the cover pages with an equal amount of space is used up on both sides of each cover page. Unity is also present, because everything ties together. Contrast can also be seen, because the words are all black, with a white background, and also on the Com 1020: Media and You the picture of myself is sticking out the most, which is the base of the cover page.

For making these cover pages, me and my group started by taking each others pictures, then had it loaded onto the computer. Then added text, and graphics. For the others I used a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, Freehand, and just a regular piece of paper. I started the cover pages with an image in my head, which I drew out onto paper, then Scanned it onto the computer. Then Used Photoshop and Corel Painter to make it the images more cleaner. Then used Freehand to reshape the image and add texts. Then printed the cover pages out.

There is a bit of things that I would change if I had the chance to do it all over again, first I’d have made the images on the Com 1020: Media and You graphics more better, second the images on some other drawings aren’t as clean cut as I would have hoped them to be.
